Botanical Description

A twiner. Stem 0.6 cm or more in diameter. Leaves with petioles pubescent to subglabrous, apex cuspidate, base truncate; blade 6.2-14.5 cm long, 4.1 – 9.5cm broad, glabrous; petiole 2.5 – 8 cm long, 0.1 -0.3 cm in diameter, venation palmately netted, actinodromous with 5 prominent nerves.  Inflorescence axillary, a raceme or panicle of cymes, very slender with delicate ultimate branching, 9-20 cm long, shortly pubescent. Fruit a drupe.  

Distribution Ecology

Luzon, Bohol, Samar, Negros, Biliran, Mindanao (Zamboanga), Basilan. At thickets and forests at low to medium altitudes. Endemic.

Stem used for tying purposes.
